Oregon Senate Bill 1547, also known as the “Coal to Clean” bill, is on its way to the Governor’s desk for signature. Once signed the clock starts ticking down towards the day when we’ll no longer generate electricity by burning coal.
It wasn’t a simple process, as Angela describes. The overlap of this major good news and the discovery of the disastrous Bullseye toxic chemical emissions makes me wonder if there’s a lesson that can be learned – call a special session of the Legislature or let the DEQ commence its rulemaking process?
